Preparing for your fitting

A home fitting is special because the contents of your wardrobe are all right there. You can try garments on with the accessories and shoes that you plan to style the piece with and all the well-fit pieces you already have are there for reference. Nothing to remember when you leave the house, your space, your wardrobe, your time.

Here are a few things to keep in mind as you plan; so you can get the most out of your fitting.

1. Gather your inspiration

If you've saved any photos, screenshots, or magazine pages, they can help guide the fitting. Reference images help to understand the fit you're looking for, and the mood and aesthetic you want the finished piece to carry.

2. Pull the pieces that need work.

Lay out the garments that need tailoring or repairs, along with anything you might wear with them - shoes, jewelry, outerwear, a particular bag. Seeing a piece in context tells us far more than seeing it alone.

3. Find your fit heroes.

If you have similar garments in your closet that you already feel great in, pull those out for reference. Seeing what already looks and feels right to you can be very helpful in determining which alterations will work best.

4. Dress for the fitting.

Wear something simple and comfortable - close-fitting, minimal undergarments that won't add bulk or affect your proportions. Have any underpinnings, shapewear, binders, or supportive pieces you plan to wear with the garment ready to layer underneath.

If you have any specific needs or preferences we should know about in advance - a prosthetic, a pacemaker, sensory sensitivities, mobility considerations, or simply a preference for how you like to be worked with - please mention it when setting up your appointment. Your fitting should feel comfortable and easy, and sharing these details helps make sure everything goes smoothly.
